Position Overview

The Dispatcher / Operations Coordinator is the heartbeat of Oryzon's daily operations — keeping freight moving efficiently while balancing dispatch, customer service, fleet oversight, and business development. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to grow with a company that is building something exceptional.

You will coordinate freight movements, manage day-to-day dispatch operations, optimize fleet utilization, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to business growth through customer development and account management.


Dispatch & Operations Management
  • Coordinate and dispatch freight from pickup through final delivery
  • Plan, optimize, and adjust routes to maximize efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure on-time performance
  • Monitor shipments in real time and proactively resolve delays, disruptions, or service issues
  • Communicate with drivers, customers, and internal teams to ensure seamless execution
  • Coordinate expedited, emergency, and same-day shipments across Texas
  • Create and manage loads in dispatch/TMS systems
  • Verify driver paperwork and maintain accurate operational records
  • Investigate unassigned miles, HOS violations, and operational anomalies

Fleet & Safety Management
  • Oversee fleet maintenance scheduling and preventive maintenance (PM) compliance
  • Ensure adherence to DOT, OSHA, and reefer temperature-control requirements
  • Conduct safety audits and enforce compliance standards
  • Manage incident reporting and follow-up investigations
  • Address operational risks including driver availability, equipment issues, and road conditions

Customer & Account Management
  • Serve as primary point of contact for customers regarding shipment updates and service issues
  • Handle billing inquiries and coordinate accurate invoicing
  • Proactively communicate service disruptions and provide solutions
  • Manage critical customer complaints, including root cause analysis and formal responses
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to ensure retention and growth

Sales & Business Development
  • Develop and manage a personal book of business
  • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities via inbound leads and outbound outreach
  • Negotiate competitive freight rates with customers
  • Expand existing accounts and identify growth opportunities
  • Maintain margin targets and manage profitability on each load

Reporting & Administrative
  • Generate and analyze KPIs (weekly/monthly) related to service, cost, and performance
  • Provide leadership-level reporting with actionable insights and recommendations
  • Review lanes, SOPs, and workflows to drive continuous improvement
  • Coordinate billing, collections, and documentation flow
  • Organize incoming paperwork and maintain operational files
  • Collaborate with team members to divide and execute responsibilities effectively

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business, or related field OR 5+ years of relevant transportation/logistics experience (3PL preferred)
  • Experience in refrigerated (reefer) or temperature-controlled logistics — dispatching, routing, load planning, real-time tracking
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations, TMS, ELD, GPS tracking, and fleet maintenance standards
  • Proficiency with Generative AI tools
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks, or similar accounting tools
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and customer service skills
  • Experience managing driver performance and safety compliance
  • Motivated, organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and accountable — you are a self-starter
  • Motivated by performance-based earnings
